first post, and a month to my departure

Signed the contract in December, got my departure dates last weekend; it's looking official, friends.  I'll be in South Korea come this time next month.  With that in mind, I'm jumping on the travelblog bandwagon - please stay tuned to hear more of what's happening in my life and in the lives of those that surround me.

After months of time in the States to read up on my new home via the wonderful ways of the internet, I'm no stranger to the blogs of foreigners in Korea.  These foreign bloggers seem to set out with a variety of goals.  Some want to assure their friends and family members that they are alive and well, others seem to get great pleasure from sharing local news stories with their unknown fellow expat readers.  There are certain subjects that just have to be covered, regardless of how often they've already been spoken about.  Fear not, dear reader, I will not forget to write posts about kimchi, ajummas, and Korean bathrooms.

Friends and family members, please don't hesitate to comment or email me with your thoughts or questions - I'd love to hear from you as often as you can spare the time to drop me a line.

Strangers, welcome to my blog!  We don't know each other yet, but I hope that you enjoy your time here.  Please feel free to speak your mind - I welcome the opportunity to hear what you have to say.
